Duties

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY As a Lead Public Health Advisor, you will use your knowledge of and experience with planning, designing, and carrying out administrative reviews and analyses to optimize business results and customer experience by: Evaluating program objectives, priorities, and activities in terms of immediate problems and long-range effects. Using knowledge of regulations, policies, processes, and current trends related to the handling of issues related to research integrity, research misconduct, and/or compliance with 42 CFR Part 93, to advise internal and external stakeholders on compliance with and/or the requirements/expectations of 42 CFR Part 93. Reviewing and evaluating policies, regulations, or issues related to the integrity of biomedical and behavioral research, for the development of guidance, policies, procedures, compliance assessments, and/or recommendations for corrective actions. Preparing reports and maintaining records of work accomplishments and administrative information, as required, and coordinate the preparation, presentation and communication of work-related information to the supervisor. Promoting, supporting, and fostering the ORI education, outreach, compliance, and integrity mission to institutional leaders, officials, executives, research scientists, biomedical and behavioral researchers, PHS research awardees, other Federal agencies, state and local agencies, institutions of higher learning, and private sector institutions both nationally and internationally.

Qualifications

Specialized experience: You must have one year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service performing at least 4 or 5 of the following: 1) Developing and/or evaluating education/outreach programs and/or activities that aid stakeholders in their efforts to promote research integrity, prevent research misconduct, and/or respond to allegations of research misconduct. 2) Designing, developing, deploying, and/or implementing policy consistent with the Public Health Service (PHS) Policies on Research Misconduct and/or any other relevant regulations, rules, statutes, statements, delegations, or policies. 3) Leading and assigning work to staff engaged in efforts/activities to initiate, design, develop, contribute to, deploy, or implement guidance or policies related to compliance with and implementation of the PHS Policies on Research Misconduct. 4) Engaging with stakeholders and community members by telephone and email, at conferences and meetings, and through presentations on topics involving issues of considerable consequence related to research integrity, research misconduct, and/or compliance with the PHS Policies on Research Misconduct. 5) Providing guidance and making recommendations and decisions related to the application/implementation of PHS Policies on Research Misconduct, enabling institutions to respond effectively to allegations of misconduct and promote a research environment that fosters research integrity. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to gain employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
