Duties
You will serve as the Ted Stevens Center for Arctic Security Studies (TSC) Deputy Dean for the Dean of the School of Arctic and Climate Security Studies (SACSS) focused on matters pertaining to administration of educational programs.
You will oversee the School's administrative functions related to educational delivery, ensuring optimal staffing, and recommending Division adjustments to match Center strategic goals.
You will interpret and execute policy directives, collaborating closely with the staff and faculty to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
You will oversee the implementation of educational programs, ensuring adherence to all applicable regulations and directives.
You will monitor and ensures the smooth operation of administrative tasks related to educational delivery.
You will be responsible for collecting data and requirements to report on required Assessment, Monitoring, and Evaluation (AM and E) tasks, ensuring compliance with internal and external reporting standards.
You will be responsible for report writing, which involves synthesizing data and findings into comprehensive reports that communicate key insights and recommendations.
You will collect relevant data through various sources, such as surveys, interviews, and program evaluations, to inform the content of reports.
You will edit and disseminate reports to internal stakeholders, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and alignment with organizational objectives before
distribution.
You will manage budget requirements related to personnel and staffing needs, overseeing the allocation of funds for recruitment, salaries, and benefits.
You will oversee budgets for staff travel, including expenses for conferences, workshops, and other professional development activities, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and guidelines.
You will maintain regular communication with stakeholders to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
Requirements

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications
This position serves as the Deputy Dean for the Dean of the School and Arctic and Climate Security Studies (SACSS) focused on matters pertaining to administration of educational programs. The Deputy Dean aids the Dean in interpreting and executing pertinent policy directives, drawing from guidance issued by the Office of Secretary of Defense (OSD), U.S. European Command, U.S. Northern Command, U.S. INDOPACOM, and other relevant stakeholders. Collaborating with staff and faculty, the individual facilitates the development of innovative educational products to meet policy directives and ensures SACSS adherence to all applicable regulations and directives. In addition, the role entails overseeing the School's administrative functions related to educational delivery, ensuring optimal staffing, and recommending Division adjustments to match Center strategic goals. It also includes promoting streamlined operations and maintaining strong communication between SACSS leadership and faculty/staff to foster a positive workplace atmosphere. The Deputy collaborates closely with leadership and staff in all other divisions at TSC. Overall, the induvial is responsible for all personnel affairs within the SACSS division, including recruitment and retention initiatives aimed at attracting high-quality faculty and staff.

Knowledge Required by the Position:
To effectively support the SACSS division and fulfill the responsibilities of the Deputy Dean role, candidates should possess a comprehensive set of knowledge and skills, including:
General knowledge of Arctic security dynamics including the interplay of some or all of: history, geography, environment, politics, economics, population, demographics, and culture.
Knowledge of key public and private actors and networks that can contribute to developing strategies to contend with Arctic security challenges, to include domestic and international entities.
Strong understanding of administrative processes and procedures, encompassing staffing, resource management, and compliance.
Familiarity with educational initiatives and best practices in curriculum development, management, and educational trends.
Effective communication and collaboration skills for engaging with internal and external stakeholders, fostering partnerships, and maintaining relationships.
Knowledge of security protocols and regulations to ensure compliance and safeguard sensitive information.
Ability to assist in strategic planning, partnership development, and promote a cohesive organizational approach.
Proficiency in administrative tasks such as scheduling, coordination, stakeholder communication, and budget management.
Understanding of research methodologies to inform evidence-based decision-making.
Strong leadership abilities to motivate and guide colleagues towards common goals, including conducting performance evaluations and providing feedback.
Competence in collecting, analyzing data, and collaborating with stakeholders to develop assessment measures and outcomes.
Strong writing and analytical skills for synthesizing data into comprehensive reports, editing, and dissemination.
Ability to ensure compliance with organizational policies and guidelines, oversee mandatory training requirements, and safeguard sensitive information.
Skill in developing comprehensive communication strategies, identifying target audiences, and evaluating effectiveness.
Proficiency in crafting job descriptions, conducting interviews, providing orientation, and streamlining recruitment and onboarding processes.
Leadership in overseeing divisional administrative tasks, managing day-to-day operations, and ensuring consistent adherence to administrative policies and procedures.
A Ph.D. or corresponding high level policy practitioner experience is highly desired. Senior level military experience is desired.

Basic Requirements:
Degree: that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position.

Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in A above
