Duties
You will conduct various studies and analyses, and perform calculations to solve problems within HVAC direct digital control (DDC) systems.
You will perform building DDC system investigation and testing as described in the National Environmental Balancing Bureau (NEBB) procedural standards for retro-commissioning of existing buildings.
You will apply knowledge of DDC systems such as Johnson Controls, Siemens, Automated Logic, Invensys Buildings systems, Delta, Distech, Honeywell, Staefa and others to resolve DDC controls failure or unsatisfactory performance problems.
You will plan and perform functional performance tests, and prepare comprehensive test reports containing recommendations and supporting data.
You will evaluate various alternatives for meeting an objective, applying adequate consideration of peripheral as well as technical factors, to recommend a best approach.
You will perform field investigations to collect data needed for reports and determine the nature and condition of existing facilities.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
Qualifications
GS-12:
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Performing building DDC system investigation and testing; 2) Planning and performing functional performance tests, and preparing comprehensive test reports containing recommendations and supporting data; 3) Applying knowledge of industry standard DDC systems such as Johnson Controls, Siemens, Automated Logic, Invensys Buildings systems, and others to resolve DDC controls failure or unsatisfactory performance problems; 4) Performing quick fixes for HVAC control systems, which may include temperature control issues, sensor calibration, control parameters and connections, and perform planning for more complex solutions.
GS-11:
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Assisting in the performance of building DDC system investigation and testing; 2) Planning and performing supervised functional performance tests, and preparing comprehensive test reports containing recommendations and supporting data; 3) Applying knowledge of industry standard DDC systems such as Johnson Controls, Siemens, Automated Logic, Invensys Buildings systems, and others to resolve DDC controls failure or unsatisfactory performance problems; 4) Performing quick fixes for HVAC control systems, which may include temperature control issues, sensor calibration, control parameters and connections, and perform planning for more complex solutions. As a developmental position, requires assistance to perform the above tasks and may not work independently.
