This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The NT-5 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-13 and GS-14.
You will serve as an Aircraft Carrier Auxiliary Systems Technician in the Aircraft Carrier Design and Systems Engineering Directorate (SEA 05V) at Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA).
Duties
You will support the five Ford and Nimitz Class Aircraft Carrier Ship Design Managers (SDMs) and their Deputies.
You will provide technical support to engineering staff and assess risk for technical decisions for SDMs and the Auxiliary System Engineering Manager (SEM).
You will collaborate with the Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Conversion and Repair (SUPSHIP) Newport News and public shipyards to resolve Auxiliary System technical matters.
You will provide responses to requests for technical assistance or adjudication.
You will investigate technical issues with ship modernization efforts executed via Ship Change Documents (SCDs) or Ship Alterations (SHIPALT) and support development of new SCDs/SHIPALTs.
You will coordinate with Engineering Agents, Technical Authorities, Type Commanders (TYCOM), PMS 312, PMS 378, SUPSHIP, Newport News Shipbuilding, and other activities.
You will contribute to the development of Auxiliary Systems Government Furnished Information (GFI) packages to Newport News Shipbuilding.
You will support engineering staff in the review of technical data packages, drawings, reports, logistics products, training, etc. and provide technical recommendations.
You will review ship, procurement, and systems specifications and submit proposals for changes.
You will contribute to the development of technical guidance and/or resolution to actions in the Warfighter Improvement Program (WIP) and the Propulsion Plant Conference (PPC).

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-4 pay band (GS-11 and GS-12 equivalency) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying a comprehensive knowledge of technical engineering methods to support the construction, operation, maintenance, modernization, or repair of shipboard auxiliary systems.
