You will serve as an Engineering Technician supporting the Program Executive Officer for Submarines (PEO SUB); the Deputy Commander, Submarine In-Service (SEA 07); the Program Executive Officer for Columbia (PEO CLB); and the Submarine Maintenance Engineering, Planning, and Procurement (SUBMEPP) Activity of PEO SSBN.

Duties

You will provide technical engineering advice in support of systems engineering initiatives, systems design, hardware, software integration systems and software engineering processes. You will also provide internal and external interface management, technology insertion, system technical performance, configuration management, technical documentation review and analysis, and Integrated Logistics Support (ILS). You will participate in high level working groups with senior engineers to develop strategic goals, plans, schedules, and cost estimates. You will demonstrate experience with system development and acquisition, with direct responsibility/accountability for at least two of three of; cost, schedule, and technical aspects of system development. You will serve as a consultant and expert advisor for the organization in applying practical knowledge of advanced concepts, principles, and processes for life cycle engineering and management of various systems, subsystems, and equipment. You will plan, manage, and coordinate, various engineering development programs/projects that involve continuous systems modification, system requirement evaluation, and other pertinent factor/system performance analysis. You will troubleshoot, analyze and determine operating problems, and recommend appropriate changes to correct deficiencies. You will serve as the US Coordinator to support TRIDENT Programs.

  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing technical engineering duties (e.g. assembly, testing, data documentation, troubleshooting, equipment repair) and evaluating procedures, methods, and processes related to maintenance, repair or overhaul issues of shipboard systems and components in support of submarine or ship modernization.
