You will serve as an Engineering Technician (Mechanical) in the Public Works Directorate, Facilities Management and Sustainment (FM&S) Division of NAVAL FAC ENGINEERING CMD WASH.

Duties

You will coordinate projects (e.g., maintenance, repair, improvement) with activities to resolve facility related issues. You will analyze method of testing to determine or improve effectiveness, reliability or validity of the process. You will create written documents (e.g., specifications, test required documents, drawings) to outline recommendations on technical engineering projects. You will develop procedures related to maintenance and repair of HVAC to ensure conformance with approved procedures. You will serve in leadership role for HVAC system failures and provides guidance to facility maintenance and sustainment personnel.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

GS-12 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Analyzing, studying, and calculating solutions for problems connected with a HVAC system; 2) Makes field investigations to collect data needed for reports and to determine the nature and condition of existing facility systems and then propose solutions for improving or restoring services within the facilities; 3) Coordinates with engineers on acceptance criteria and performance, oversees testing to ensure proper operations, as well as proper capture of HVAC system information in Computerized Maintenance Management System; 4) Designs and implements a proactive maintenance program for complicated maintenance systems by integrating preventative and predictive (test and inspection) maintenance technologies; and 5) Serves in leadership role for system failures, providing guidance to maintenance personnel by interfacing with mechanics, technicians, engineers, Public Works Officers, and customer contacts, consulting and evaluating systems as well as data from Computerized Maintenance Management System for effectiveness and make recommendations. GS-11 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Makes studies, analyzes, and calculates for the solution of problems connected with the overall planning, design or operations of HVAC systems, which requires application of thorough knowledge of standard HVAC systems, including Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems; 2) Makes field investigations to collect data needed for reports and to determine the nature and condition of existing facility systems and then propose solutions for improving or restoring services within the facilities; 3) Coordinates with engineers on acceptance criteria and performance, oversees testing to ensure proper operations, as well as proper capture of HVAC system information in Computerized Maintenance Management System; 4) Assists with design and implementation of a proactive maintenance program for complicated maintenance systems by integrating preventative and predictive (test and inspection) maintenance technologies; and 5) Supports evaluation of system failures, providing guidance to maintenance personnel by interfacing with mechanics, technicians, engineers, and other key contacts, as well as analyzing data from Computerized Maintenance Management System for effectiveness and to make recommendations.
