You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (CONTROLS) in the PUBLIC WORKS DIVISION of NAVAL FAC ENGINEERING CMD WASH.

Duties

You will analyze program test results to make recommendations to management. You will maintain facilities and equipment in working conditions. You will troubleshoot Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems (e.g., HVAC, lighting systems) to improve plant facilities affecting test programs. You will develop reports of testing results to present product reliability or to recommend product acceptance or rejection.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
  • A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee. A relocation incentive may be authorized.

Qualifications

FOR GS-12 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) -Investigating and testing building DDC systems; 2) Preparing comprehensive test reports containing recommendations and supporting data; 3) Resolving DDC controls failure or unsatisfactory performance problems; and 4) Performing quick fixes for HVAC control systems (i.e. temperature control issues, sensor calibrations, control parameters etc.) FOR GS-11 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1. Perform building DDC system investigation and testing. 2. Plan and perform functional performance tests and prepare comprehensive test reports containing recommendations and supporting data. 3. Apply knowledge of industry standard DDC systems such as Johnson Controls, Siemens, Automated Logic, Invensys Buildings systems, and others to resolve DDC controls failure or unsatisfactory performance problems. 4. Independently perform quick fixes for HVAC control systems, which may include temperature control issues, sensor calibration, control parameters and connections, and perform planning for more complex solutions. A developmental position would require assistance to perform the above tasks and would not be able to work independently.
