This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for DIB & MRTFB to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Police Staff may require shift work and/or work on rotating shifts to provide coverage on various situations.
Duties
Advises law enforcement personnel on any changes in policies and procedures.
Establishes funding requirements and manages the branch operating budget.
Adjusts personnel assignments to meet deadlines.
Identifies and prepares requirements for equipment, weapons and vehicles.
Conducts periodic training to develop tactics and mobilization skills.
Testifies at trials and hearings.
stablishes workflow to provide productive and timely accomplishment of work.
Prepares budgetary input based on travel and training requirements.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. IAW AR 600-85, a DA 5019 Condition of Employment must be signed for mandatory drug testing.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
- This position requires certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation with Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training.
- This position is covered by the Individual Reliability Program (IRP) IAW AR 190-56 and has been designated by Department of Army as critical to the national or internal security. Personnel must meet the standards for the IRP.
- This position requires that the incumbent graduate from an academy accredited by the U. S. Army Military Police School (USAMPS) Civilian Police Academy or receive an initial training waiver or be excepted per para 4-4 of the Army Regulation 190-56.
- This position requires the incumbent to pass a Physical Agility Test (PAT) annually.
- Incumbent in this position is designated as Mission Essential (IAW DODI 3024.42 and DTM 17-004) position during Inclement Weather Conditions or other designed/identified emergency conditions.
- The 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 covers this position. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position.
- Incumbent is subject to removal from the position if convicted of a felony in accordance with Section 639 of P.L. 106-554 effective January 20, 2001.
- Incumbent must sign the DD Form 2760 (Qualification to Possess Firearms or Ammunition).
- Incumbent must wear the Department of the Army Civilian Police (DACP) / Security Guard (SG) uniform and maintain a high standard of appearance and hygiene, and wear chemical-protection equipment.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
- A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Leading or supervising employees in the area of law enforcement; (2) Coordinating developmental and training needs of employees; and (3) Enforcing laws, regulations, policies, standards or procedures in law enforcement. Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military police officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
This position requires that the incumbent either has graduated or will graduate with 1 year from Entrance On Duty date, from an academy accredited by the U. S. Army Military Police School (USAMPS) Civilian Police Academy or receive an initial training waiver or be excepted per para 4-4 of the Army Regulation 190-56.
