This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for DIB & MRTFB to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Police staff may require shift work and/or work on rotating shifts to provide coverage on various situations. Day shift is: Mon - Thurs or Thurs - Sun 0530-1800, Night shift: Mon -Thurs or Thurs - Sun, 1730-0600. All shifts are 4 shifts per week 12.5 hours per shift. Shifts may rotate.
Duties
Serves as Lieutenant for the Law Enforcement Division.
Incumbent is responsible for planning, directing, and reviewing the activities of police officers engaged in the enforcement of laws and protection of government property, materials, and processes.
Provides assistance and input into overall planning needed to meet security and law enforcement requirements.
Performance of duties requires knowledge of established rules, procedures, methods of operations, and federal, state, and local laws.
Check on access control points to ensure proper procedures are followed. Monitor working conditions such as safety, security, condition of equipment, cleanliness.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires persons to carry a firearm, which requires initial and periodic qualification and meet the requirements under 18 USC 922(g)(9) of The Lautenberg Amendment.
- This position requires that the incumbent have no felony or domestic violence convictions.
- This position requires the incumbent to pass a physical agility test (PAT) annually.
- This position requires submission to a random urinalysis drug screening as well as pre-employment.
- This position requires a Secret Security Clearance.
- This position requires a valid state issued motor vehicle driver's license.
- This position requires that the incumbent graduated from an academy accredited by the U. S. Army Military Police School (USAMPS) Civilian Police Academy or receive an initial training waiver or be excepted per para 4-4 of the Army Regulation 190-56.
- This position is covered by the Individual Reliability Program (IRP) IAW AR 190-56, and has been designated by Department of Army as critical to the national or internal security. Personnel must meet the standards for the IRP.
- This position requires a certification in CPR techniques and First Aid.
- This position requires you to be able to wear chemical protection.
- This position required the incumbent to be able to work shifts, overtime and weekends as required.
- This position requires the incumbent to wear a uniform and maintain a high standard of appearance and hygiene.
- This position has annual training and re-certification requirements.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) conducting law enforcement duties to ensure the protection of life, property and civil rights; 2) enforcing a wide range of law enforcement/security laws, traffic codes, regulations, directives, and procedures; 3) conducting investigations to detect and apprehend individuals committing suspected illegal acts, such as acts of violence, theft of property, or for violating laws concerning controlled substances; 4) training police officer personnel in law enforcement policies and procedures; ) develops case information for use in criminal and traffic courts; and 6) provides sworn testimony based on investigative process, evidence gathering, witness statements in criminal and traffic court. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
