You will serve as an IT Specialist (DATAMGMT) in the Corporate Operations Office, Information Management/Information Technology Competency of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.
This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DoD direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Duties
You will participate in the planning and development of eBusiness, knowledge management and information technology (IT) vision, strategy and infrastructure.
You will perform data modeling and subject matter support to ensure data specifications and requirements meet long-term needs of the command.
You will create data models (both transacting and warehouse applications) using industry best practices to ensure high quality data to support efficient reporting.
You will develop and maintain data standards, process documentation and templates that assist in a common understanding of data models and data marts.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying principles, procedures, and tools of data management, such as, data modeling techniques, data backups, data recovery, data dictionaries, data mining, data disposal to develop and design of software systems; 2) Evaluating new universe design and report development approaches used to formulate requirements specifications; 3) Establishing test criteria to ensure the most efficient use of the data modeling structure design; and 4) Designing physical structure of required databases while considering factors, such as, access methods, frequency of access, storage media, server volatility, and operating system sensitivity.
In addition to the specialized experience listed above, your resume must demonstrate one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined:

4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
