Duties

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY Serves as the principal representative for a well- defined and established program of a moderate complexity. Provides substantive program consultation, guidance, and assistance and is responsible for carrying out and promoting significant public health program activities in Federal, local, state, and international settings with relative independence. Establishes and maintains an integrated system of information gathering and reporting devices and analyzes the data and assesses the program needs in terms of strategies, services, and resources. Plans and administers a comprehensive public health program, including, but not limited to, service delivery, assessment, surveillance, quality assurance, partnerships and collaborations, outreach, orientation, training, reporting, and program implementation and evaluation. Collects and analyzes data to address highly complex program needs. Develops and/or recommends program intervention, prevention, and/or control strategies. Prepares reports for use in evaluating program operations and the other work incidental to the development of information gathering system.

Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR BASIC QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT Undergraduate and Graduate Education Major study -- public health or other field of study with course work directly related to the work of the position to be filled OR Specialized Experience Experience that provides: Knowledge of organizational, operational, and programmatic concepts and practices applied by public, private, or nonprofit agencies and organizations engaged in public health or other health-related activities. Knowledge of the methods, processes, and techniques used to develop and deliver public health or health-related programs in State and local settings. Knowledge of a specialized public health program. Knowledge of, and skill in, the application of administrative or analytical methods and techniques necessary for working within the framework of a public health or related organization and carrying out specific program functions. Skill in oral and written communications, gathering and conveying information, making oral presentations, and preparing reports, correspondence, and other written materials. AND Additional Qualification Requirements: In addition to meeting the Basic Qualification Requirements candidates must also: GS-09 A. Have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service that includes one of the following: Experience related to mental health or substance use; OR Experience working in public policy, in research, or within health care, social service, or non-profit administration OR B. Have a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in public health or other field of study with course work directly related to the work of the position to be filled or LL.B. or J.D., if related. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement. OR C. PATHWAYS - RECENT GRADUATE - ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants MUST MEET the following eligibility requirements to participate in the Pathways Recent Graduate Program:
- Have completed, within the last two (2) years as of the closing date of this announcement, a qualifying associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational, or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying education institute.
- Veterans who were unable to apply within two (2) years of receiving their degree, due to military service obligation, may be extended up to six years.
