About the Position: This position will serve as an Administrative Support Assistant (OA) for the National Simulation Center (NSC), Fort Gregg-Adams, VA.
Duties
Coordinate travel arrangements, to include travel orders, developing itineraries, scheduling appointments for passport and visa procurement, etc.
Prepare requests and authorizations for Department of Defense (DoD) personnel business travel in Defense Travel System (DTS).
Prepare and proofread completed correspondence for accuracy, spelling, grammar, formatting, and proper syntax.
Utilize software programs to prepare spreadsheets, edit databases, process word documents, etc.
Scheduling meetings, appointments and conferences
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the skill of a qualified typist (40 wpm).
- 5% Temporary Duty Travel Required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) utilizing automated office software to create documents, spreadsheets, and reports; or 2) performing administrative support duties, such as travel arrangements.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position such as management or administration. Note: Transcripts are required at the time of application.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. Note: Transcripts are required at the time of application.
Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
