You will serve as a INTERDISCIPLINARY/PHYSICAL SCIENTIST/GEOPHYSICIST/OCEANOGRAPHER in the OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT, NAVAL OCEAONOGRAPHIC OFFICE (NAVOCEANO) of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS.
Duties
You will serve as the operations project manager for all surveys within assigned Commanders’ Area of Responsibility (AOR).
You will adjust integrated survey plans to current and near future survey requirements.
You will ensure a wide spectrum of environmental data are collected per ship without data collection systems interfering with each other.
You will monitor ship material readiness for all platforms utilizing the NAVOCEANO Sponsor Casualty Reporting (CASREP) system and other equipment status information channels.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience working within scientific investigation of the marine environment and in the principles of oceanographic.
Experience obtaining geological data collection, analysis and reporting.
Experience planning, organizing, and managing programs involving the collection, analysis, interpretation and presentation of data.
Experience working with oceanographic instrumentation and environmental quality commitments and requirements for geological data.
Experience using varied types of laboratory and shipboard instruments and equipment required to acquire and analyze a wide range of geological data.

Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.

Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

Degree: that included at least 30 semester hours in mathematics (including calculus) and the physical sciences (geophysics, physics, engineering, geology, astronomy, meteorology, electronics, etc.).

Individual Occupational Requirements
Basic Requirements:
- Degree: major study of at least 24 semester hours in oceanography or a related discipline such as physics, meteorology, geophysics, mathematics, chemistry, engineering, geology, or biology, plus 20 additional semester hours in any combination of oceanography, physics, geophysics, chemistry, mathematics, meteorology, computer science, and engineering sciences.

- Combination of education and experience -- course work as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
Applicants who qualify on the basis of major study in biology or geology must have had at least 6 semester hours in the major directly concerned with marine science or 6 semester hours in oceanography; applicants who qualify on the basis of other physical sciences or engineering must have had differential and integral calculus and at least 6 semester hours in physics.
