You will serve as Deputy Director of Operations (N3B), Supervisory Interdisciplinary Physical Scientist/Oceanographer in the Operations Department of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS.

Duties

You will develop plans, schedules, policies, and directs all aspects of NAVOCEANO operations. You will manage personnel and equipment in the conduct of NAVOCEANO operations. You will plan, implement, coordinate, and manage the operations and activities of the Department. You will implement EEO policies and communicate these policies to Department personnel. You will provide technical and administrative advice regarding all phases of the programs addressed by the Department.

• This position may include up to 25 percent travel in support of survey planning, projects, and platforms.
• When on travel the work will be performed at either a shore station or aboard a survey platform.
• Shore station activities are normally in a foreign country and involve living standards available in that country or working aboard small survey launches both involving high risk factors.
• This is a Special Sensitive position.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
• Occasional CONUS and OCONUS travel, less than 10%, is required. The incumbent must be eligible for a passport. Occasional evening/weekend work is required.
• The incumbent is required to file a Final Disclosure Statement, Form OGE-450.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience utilizing systems and platforms to plan and execute unique or special surveys. Experience in oceanography-related disciplines such as acoustics, bathymetry, hydrography, geology, geophysics, etc. Experience analyzing strategic plans, formulate and implement organizational policies and procedures. Experience promoting cooperation and exchanging information and ideas among organizations. Education

Basic Education Requirements
1301:
Successful completion of a bachelor's degree or higher in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.
OR
A combination of education and experience with education equivalent to one of the majors shown above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

1360:
Successful completion of a degree with a major study of at least 24 semester hours in oceanography or a related discipline such as physics, meteorology, geophysics, mathematics, chemistry, engineering, geology, or biology, plus 20 additional semester hours in any combination of oceanography, physics, geophysics, chemistry, mathematics, meteorology, computer science, and engineering sciences.
OR
A combination of education and experience which includes course work in oceanography or a related discipline such as physics, meteorology, geophysics, mathematics, chemistry, engineering, geology, or biology, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
