About the Position: Manages all Live and Virtual Training Aids Devices Simulators and Simulations (TADSS) equipment and serves as the Training Instructor assigned to the Training Support Center (TSC).

Duties

Serves as the Senior Training Instructor for Virtual Training Aids Devices Simulators and Simulation (TADSS) and installation subject matter expert on TADSS training issues. Maintains unit utilization and training status reports, records and keeps them current for reference/reports. Assists unit Commanders in establishing a training program that will meet unit needs and assure mission accomplishment. Interprets and adapts guidelines and established training objectives for the type of unit and equipment, and designs training modules to meet their objectives. Evaluates or teaches assigned training and operations for all Live and Virtual TADSS used for both basic and advance matrix "Train the Trainer" courses. Provides technical assistance to instructors and newly assigned unit instructors to improve instructional competence and oversees the Unit Instructor Operator Training Courses.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Physical Demands. Requires considerable walking, standing and speaking. Regular and recurring requirement for lifting material and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, and at times may handle items weighing occasionally up to 200lbs with assistance.
  • Must be capable of operating a motor vehicle and maintaining a valid state driver's license. May be required to obtain a government driver's license. Required to operate assigned government vehicles and perform operator-type maintenance as required.
  • Field and garrison locations during day and night and extreme weather conditions, i.e., rain, snow, and wind. Travel to off post training areas. Some overnight travel may be required, normally not to exceed one week in duration.
  • Must observe established safe working procedures. Appropriate protective clothing and/or equipment is provided to minimize or eliminate hazardous conditions, and its use is mandatory.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain instructor certification as required for the assigned TADSS and Virtual TADSS.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
  • This position will require changes in work schedule. Management will, in advance, reschedule the employee's regularly scheduled administrative workweek to correspond with the specific days and hours required to accomplish the mission.
  • Position may require up to 5% TDY travel.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: education or a subject area related to the position to be filled. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Curriculum DevelopmentOral CommunicationTraining Aids, Devices, Simulators, and Simulations Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
