Duties

Serve as a Safety and Occupational Health Specialist for the US Army APG Garrison Installation Safety Office. Serve as safety expert and technical authority for innovative approaches to safety, including cultural change to prevent accidents and to design future safety systems within and among the installation. Perform standard inspections of administrative, industrial and/or field environments for compliance with safety and occupational health regulations and standards. Prepare written safety and occupational health inspection reports. Develops training material, plans and conducts training of in safety program requirements, policies, procedures, regulations, and techniques in administering the safety program. Creates and implements accident reporting requirements for assigned organizations. Plans, develops and implements safety promotional and educational campaigns designed to meet both general and specific goals of reducing accidents and injuries.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
