Duties

Serves in the Occupational Health and Safety Office and is responsible for all tasks associated with providing safety program oversight and support to the projects assigned to the Chemical Materials Activity. Responsible for a safety program in support of projects addressing transportation, destruction and disposal of toxic and hazardous materiel including lethal, incapacitating, and other chemicals and munitions disposal. Assesses the compliance with applicable regulations to a broad range of work processes, equipment operations, and protective devices to minimize injuries to employees and damage to property and equipment.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
  • TDY travel may be required 50% of the time.
  • May be required to wear Personal Protection Equipment (i.e. Protective mask for escape purposes).
  • Pre-employment physical and annual physicals thereafter.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Accident/Mishap and Hazard Investigation and ReportingCompliance Inspection and Program ManagementRisk Management Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
