About the Position: Serves as a senior safety and occupational health specialist within headquarters of a Major Subordinate Command (MSC) of the Army Materiel Command (AMC). Provides technical assistance and management guidance on all aspects of the overall MSC Safety and Occupational Health Program.
Duties
Assists the Commander and Safety Director in managing the Command’s Safety Program, providing technical advice and assistance to Command staff, subordinate Commanders/Directors and safety professionals, ensuring safety program goals are achieved
Responsible for the planning, development, organization, administration, review and evaluation of the comprehensive safety and occupational health management system (SOHMS)
Implements and enforces safety policies, procedures and plans that aid in reducing the risk of death or injury to soldiers and civilians, damage to vehicles, equipment, and property due to mishaps
Collects and manages OSH and accident data and information systems which generate compliance, mishap, injury and illness data for the Command and subordinate installations and activities world-wide
Performs a wide range of tasks associated with the safety verification of processes, systems, equipment, facilities, and operations
Conducts and completes special assignments which typically involve highly technical and complex safety problems having high visibility
Requirements
- Secret Clearance
- Temporary Duty (TDY) up to 20%
- CP12 Certification within 12 months of appointment
- Work with or in close proximity to toxic industrial material
- Work requires special safety precautions and/or protective clothing and equipment
- Obtain and maintain valid state Driver's License
- Moderate lifting up to 20 pounds
- One year probationary period, unless already completed

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11/NH-02 in the Federal service which includes 1) Inspecting or surveying workplaces, processes, products, or other systems for compliance with established safety and occupational health policies or standards; and 2) Developing safety and occupational health standards, regulations, practices, and procedures; and 3) Collects OSH and accident data and information
