As the Army's primary integrator of C5ISR technologies and systems, the U.S. Army Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C5ISR) Center conducts Research, Development, and Engineering or RD&E, across a wide variety of capability areas that support all the Army's Modernization priorities. The C5ISR Center delivers needed capabilities to our Warfighters.
Duties
Incumbent will serve as Chief of the Safety Office within the Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C5ISR) Center.
Responsible for the safety program strategy, planning, development, management, implementation and oversight across C5ISR, subordinate organizations, regions, and activities.
Incumbent plans, directs, and coordinates safety and occupational health to include risk management, HAZCOM, Industrial hygiene, non-ionizing radiation safety, system safety, respiratory safety, chemical hygiene, safety reporting and investigations.
As a recognized expert and leader, incumbent exercises independent judgment and a high degree of originality and sound judgment in formulating, evaluating, monitoring and implementing the organization's safety program and framework.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core Safety Professional Education Development Certification: Certified Safety Professional (CSP) within their first two years of employment.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement up to 25% of the time.
- Position is designated Special-Sensitive (4) Top Secret (TS) security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Access (SCI) or the incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance/access.
- This is a testing designated position. Personnel are required to sign DA Form 5019-R (Condition of Employment for Certain Civilian Positions Identified as critical under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program).
- Supervisor probationary period for newly (promoted/selected) supervisors is one year. Existing Federal employees who are competitively selected or reassigned to a supervisory position will be required to complete a supervisory probationary period.
- Position requires travel on short notice (i.e., less than 24 hours' notice)

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes the following: 1) Experience providing leadership and direction in the areas of safety and occupational health to include accident prevention controls, risk management, HAZCOM, Industrial hygiene, radiation safety, system safety, respiratory safety, chemical hygiene in office, lab, field and test environments; 2) Experience providing oversight of safety reporting, investigations and the Army Safety and Occupational Health Management System (ASOHMS); 3) Experience demonstrating resourcefulness in researching, developing and implementing new and improved safety methods, policies and procedures to meet program objectives experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (equivalent to the DE-03 pay band (GS-13 grade level)).
