You will serve as a Ship Superintendent in the Project Office of SUPSHIP GULF COAST.
Duties
You will be responsible for monitoring construction progress, negotiating changes on the waterfront, and acting as liaison with the contractor construction deck plate representatives.
You will serves as the Program Managers Representative (PMR) primary deck plate point of contact and “ship advocate” for all issues, particularly those potentially impacting major milestones.
You will be responsible to the PMR for providing waterfront production and quality oversight of the craft and modules assigned.
You will conduct periodic review of shipbuilder’s progressing system for accuracy.
You will monitor the contractor’s production progress against an approved progressing system to ensure events occur as planned, progress payments are justified, and any problem areas that may cause schedule delays or cost overruns are identified.
You will provide coordination, guidance and assistance for the Ship’s Force relative to crew move aboard, ship loadout, and other ship/crew integration activities.
You will develop preliminary cost estimates for obligation purposes.
You will investigate actual status of craft construction and fabrication and evaluate the potential for contractor delay and disruption for proposed changes.
You will monitor the actual progress/status of work in fabrication shops and the shipyard.
You will assess the ability of the contractor to meet established schedule dates and production milestones as defined in the contract and contract schedules.
You will coordinate quality assurance efforts through continuous communication with supervisory personnel.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector monitoring contractor activities or performance to ensure compliance with project schedules, requirements, or specifications for the construction, repair, overhaul or modernization of surface ships or submarines.
