You will serve as a TEST DIRECTOR in the LITTORAL COMBAT SHIP (LCS) PROJECT OFFICE DIVISION of SUPSHIP GULF COAST.

Duties

You will direct and coordinate milestones, ship construction test, certificate, and trial and delivery efforts. You will analyze long-range test budgetary plans to ensure that all program requirements are accounted for and that the information is consistent with procedures and guidelines. You will develop and maintain test/trial/delivery sequential events schedule and execute it for Builder's Trial (BT) and Acceptance Trials (AT) and delivery of the ship. You will implement the Ship Test Management Plan (STMP). You will monitor the implementation of the Build to Test and Ship Test Program at the shipbuilder's site. You will coordinate and track shipbuilder and government certifications. You will utilize the Test Status Group or similar organization to resolve test related problems and serve as a SUPSHIP representative to the Test Status Group. You will perform all functions necessary for supporting testing during dock trials or sea trials. You will participate in reviews, conferences, meetings, and working groups related to testing.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
  • This position requires work onboard ships.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-12 or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector leading the coordination or management of shipbuilding test programs to ensure ships meet fleet readiness.
