You will serve as a Quality Assurance Specialist in the Nuclear Inspection Training and Administration Branch, Nuclear Inspection Division, Quality Assurance Office of Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PSNS & IMF).

Duties

You will establish and analyze data streams and metrics associated with naval nuclear work involving nuclear inspection quality assurance services and adjudicate other production organizations process deficiencies identified in surveillance findings. You will ensure timely Code 139 Organizational Area quality assurance assessments are generated which adequately identify weaknesses in procedures, supervision, personnel, equipment, oversight, safety, personnel performance, and training. You will collect and compile analytical data on the repair and modernization of nuclear-powered warships. You will perform a variety of assignments to control the quality of material and processes, verifying by technical documentation review, audits, and onsite surveillance that essential quality requirements have been met. You will plan and carry out all of the successive operations to complete the assignment without direct technical assistance from the supervisor, selecting and applying established quality assurance operating procedures and methods. You will develop surveillances as needed to provide metrics for each key processes and training lesson plans involving surveillance requirements to management expectations.

• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

Qualifications

GS-12 grade level: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: evaluating Nuclear Inspection programs adverse quality trends (such as ship or submarine mechanical physical inspections, record reviews, receipt inspection, electrical inspections, and certifications) to initiate corrective action. GS-11 grade level: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: analyzing quality assurance data on nuclear ship systems, equipment, materials or processes to identify weaknesses in inspection methods. Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree
