Duties

Serve as the Director of Public Affairs at a large multi-mission military installation with responsibilities to the Deputy to the Garrison Commander for planning, coordinating and directing public affairs support. Serves as the principal staff advisor to the Garrison Commander and senior staff principals on all matters involving public issues and the creation of communication policy. Promotes and maintains effective working relationships with representatives of government, members of Congress, civic organizations and other agencies, and with representatives of the media and special interest groups. Plans, implements end oversees effective internal information programs through the garrison newspaper, Website and other internal communication media and forums. Supervises a staff of civilian personnel.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
