About the Position: Army Contracting Command - Aberdeen Proving Ground (ACC-APG) provides global contracting support to a diverse customer base in support of the Joint Warfighter.
Duties
Disseminates information materials (speeches, news releases, advisories, feature stories, etc.) on ACC APG activities to reach a wide audience through news media, public and social forums, and other channels of communication.
Coordinates with ACC APG’s mission partners and higher headquarters on media relation functions aimed at spreading the Army message.
Writes news and feature articles on command and mission programs for release to the media.
Provides staff oversight of ACC APG media relations and community relations efforts.
Designs approaches to address particular communications problems.
Informs and educates the general public about ACC APG’s missions, policies and activities.
Conducts analysis of attitudes and opinions of the public toward the command and its programs.
Develops campaigns to gain understanding and support for the organizations mission.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. If the security clearance is denied or revoked, the individual may be denied or removed from the position, accordingly.

To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Manage media and community relations programs to inform and educate on organizations mission; (2) Develop press materials for public release; (3) Perform analysis to evaluate effectiveness of current communications plans; And (4) Advise leadership on communication issues that may reduce program effectiveness. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
Education can NOT be substituted for experience.
