You will serve as a SHIPS SYSTEMS INSPECTOR SUPERVISOR I in the NON-NUCLEAR INSPECTION BRANCH (CODE 133.1) in the NON-NUCLEAR DIVISION (CODE 133) of the QUALITY ASSURANCE OFFICE (CODE 130) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD. **This is temporary promotion not to exteeed 1 year.**

Duties

You will supervise, direct and coordinate inspection operations for mechanical, electrical and/or structural inspectors and leaders. You will review inspection reports for accuracy and satisfactory performance. You will keep status and progress of work and attempts to eliminate potential bottlenecks and to minimize the effects of actual work stoppage or delays encountered. You will review piping mechanical, electrical and structural results to assure conformance by inspection personnel to Technical Work Documents, contracts, performance specifications, and recommends effective preventive actions. You will ensure new technology and lessons learned are incorporated in the processes of the Non-Nuclear Inspection Division and establishes suitable methods of assessing and continually improving processes and inspections.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
