About the Position: Serves as a Training Development Specialist in the Doctrine and Training Division, Prevention Force Modernization Proponent (PFMP), US Army Center for Initial Military Training.
Duties
As a Training Specialist (Prevention), you will perform the following duties which is not an all-inclusive list:
Responsible for developing and writing military training and education related to the prevention of harmful behaviors (for example, sexual assault, harassment, suicide prevention, domestic violence, and substance abuse) across the Army.
Responsible for applying educational theories for adult learners, comprehensive knowledge of the operational military, and the Army’s prevention system (for example, SHARP, SP, FAP, ASAP) into current training systems to enhance training.
Advises PFMP leaders on matters related to the assigned training and education prevention of harmful behaviors (for example, sexual assault, harassment, suicide prevention, domestic violence, and substance abuse) portfolio.
Performs a broad range of complex analytical assignments and studies to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of individual skills and leader development initiatives related to the prevention of harmful behaviors in the Army.
Reviews policies and regulations that affect the Prevention Force Modernization Proponent’s (PFMP) responsibilities and develops recommendations to ensure all requirements are implemented into prevention related training products.
Reviews and analyzes all prevention of harmful behaviors related training and leader development activities to identify gaps, solutions, and recommendations to assure achievement of maximum effectiveness, efficiency, and economy of all operations.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance throughout the duration of employment.
- Temporary Duty (TDY) up to 20% of the time.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: 1. Developing military training for the prevention of harmful behaviors (for example, sexual assault, harassment, suicide prevention, domestic violence, child abuse, substance abuse) AND 2. Recommending new concepts, ideas, or methods to improve prevention of harmful behavior training products. Applicants must also have one of the following 3. Evaluating prevention training programs; OR 4. Identifying training capability gaps within prevention programs; OR 5. Advising on training requirements related to prevention programs.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
Education
