This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for DIB & MRTFB to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: This position is within the Prod Eng Div, Test Equip Maint Branch of the Dir of Strategic Mgmt located at Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, PA.
Duties
Maintain complex computer-based systems used in conjunction with overhauling missile systems.
Perform operational checkout of electronic test instruments and equipment to ensure precise functionality.
Prepare detailed diagrams and schematics to facilitate repair and maintenance of electronic equipment.
Calibrate instruments such as attenuators, generators, modulators, digital volt meters, sampling scopes, frequency synthesizers, etc.
Diagnose individual circuit-failures within complex electronic system components using a wide range of precision test equipment.
Develop computer controlled test programs using manufacturers' format language to evaluate a variety of complex electronic system assemblies.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be willing to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Must be willing to travel on Temporary Duty (TDY) up to 10% of the time.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Must be willing to undergo a physical examination initially, and annually thereafter.
- Must complete a one-year probation period.
- Requires enrollment/certification in Respiratory Protection Program.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Electronic Measurement Equipment Mechanic ~ without more than normal supervision. Have the ability to perform common Electronic Measurement Equipment Mechanic duties, such as: Maintaining complex computer-based systems and automated test equipment; performing operational checkout of electronic test instruments and equipment to ensure precise functionality; calibrating instruments such as attenuators, generators, modulators, digital volt-meters, sampling scopes, frequency synthesizers, etc. Prepare detailed diagrams and schematics to facilitate repair and maintenance of electronic equipment, and diagnose individual circuit-failures within complex electronic system components using precision test equipment. Ability to work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
PHYSICAL EFFORT
Work assignments require light to moderate physical effort. There is frequent lifting, carrying and handling of items weighing 10-40 pounds and occasionally over 40 pounds. Work is performed in a sitting position for extended periods and frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching is required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is normally in well lighted, heated and ventilated areas, however, some assignments may require performance under variable conditions or within clean room environments when special garments such as head/shoe coverings and gloves are required. There is the possibility of injuries such as cuts, bruises and burns caused by electrical shock, RF energy and soldering irons.
