This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for DIB & MRTFB to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is within the Logistics Division of the Directorate of STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT PRODUCTION located in Chambersburg, PA.

Duties

Maintain electronic computer-based systems and automated test equipment. Test missile systems, subsystems, and electronic equipment. Use theoretical concept of resolutions for unforeseen problems. Use hand and power tools on electronic equipment and systems. Solve operating and repair problems on electronic equipment and missile systems. Recommend solutions for operating and repair problems on electronic equipment and missile systems.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be willing to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
  • Must be willing to travel (TDY) up to 10% of the time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Must be willing to undergo a physical initially and annually thereafter.
  • Must complete a one year probationary period.

Qualifications

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Electronic Measurement Equipment Mechanic ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common skills in electronic measurement equipment mechanic duties. I can repair, maintain, inspect, test, and perform preventative maintenance on electronic equipment such as computer controlled simulations; assist in testing and evaluating electronic subsystems such as wire harnesses and cables and provide technical services on electronic equipment. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL EFFORT Work assignments require light to moderate physical effort. There is frequent lifting, carrying and handling of items weighing 10-40 pounds and occasionally over 40 pounds. Work is performed in a sitting position for extended periods and frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching is required. WORKING CONDITIONS Work is normally in well lighted, heated and ventilated areas, however, some assignments may require performance under variable conditions or within clean room environments when special garments such as head/shoe coverings and gloves are required. There is the possibility of injuries such as cuts, bruises and burns caused by electrical shock, RF energy and soldering irons.
