About the Position: This position is located in DIRECTORATE OF STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT, PRODUCTION ENGINEERING DIVISION.

Duties

Maintain electronic computer-based systems and automated test equipment. Test missile systems, subsystems, and electronic equipment. Use theoretical concept of resolutions for unforeseen problems. Use hand and power tools on electronic equipment and systems. Solve operating and repair problems on electronic equipment and missile systems. Recommend solutions for operating and repair problems on electronic equipment and missile systems.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
  • This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.

Qualifications

(1) Position may be filled as a temporary promotion or temporary reassignment NTE 1 year by a current permanent Army employee. Temporary promotions or reassignments may be extended up to a maximum of five years and may be made permanent without further competition. (2) Position may be filled as a temporary appointment NTE 1 year, if candidate is not a current permanent Army employee. Temporary appointments may be extended up to a maximum of three years. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an ELECTRONIC MEASUREMENT EQUIPMENT MECHANIC without more than normal supervision. You have the ability to perform common skills in electronic measurement equipment mechanic duties. You can repair, maintain, inspect, test, and perform preventative maintenance on electronic equipment, missile systems, and subsystems in an industrial environment such as computer controlled simulation systems (PATRIOT), missile system, programmable test systems, and other similar systems; assist in testing and evaluating electronic subsystems such as wire harnesses, cables, interconnecting circuitry, circuit boards, etc.; assist in soldering the latest methods on electronic equipment and other specialized tools; and provide technical services on electronic equipment, missile systems, and subsystems. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-out Element)Ability To Use Hand and Power Tools - ElectronicsIngenuity (Ability To Suggest and Apply New Methods)Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.Theory of ElectronicsTrouble shooting (Electronic Equipment)Use of Test Equipment: Electronics PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work assignments require light to moderate physical effort. There is frequent lifting, carrying and handling of items weighing 10-40 pounds and occasionally over 40 pounds. Work is performed in a sitting position for extended periods and frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching is required. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is normally in well lighted, heated and ventilated areas, however, some assignments may require performance under variable conditions or within clean room environments when special garments such as head/shoe coverings and gloves are required. There is the possibility of injuries such as cuts, bruises and burns caused by electrical shock, RF energy and soldering irons.
