About the Position: The incumbent will serve as a Training Instructor (Maritime Engineering Systems) for the CASCOM, SCoE Fort Eustis, VA.Fort Eustis, VA is located in Newport News, between historic Williamsburg and Virginia Beach. Local transportation via the Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) bus service to the surrounding area which includes Hampton, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Chesapeake and Virginia Beach.
Duties
Develops and instructs complete, full-length courses (or major course units of comparable scope) to support US Army Maritime engineering training.
Plans and develops course materials such as programs of instruction, lesson plans, practical exercises, test materials and all other supplemental training materials
Develops and update lesson plans for upper-division undergraduate (or equivalent) courses or courses in advanced technical systems, specifically Army vessel maintenance incorporating all aspects of that occupation.
Presents material in accordance with lesson plans and within prescribed course framework.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience which includes 1) using training aids such as training models, devices and/or simulation to enhance training outcomes; 2) teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment; AND 3) conduct classroom, laboratory, and field instruction for upper-division undergraduate courses relating to Maritime Engineering. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
OR
Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled, such as, Education or any relating to this field.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
