Duties

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for supporting a full range of Grants Management Specialist (Policy) duties within Department of Health and Human Services/Administration for Children and Families/Office of Administration. Typical work assignments include: -Developing, analyzing and interpreting broad grant administration and financial policies and procedures, regulations, and practices. -Developing and interpreting grants and financial policies of broad applicability and Agency-specific implementation procedures to ensure grants management rules and regulations are followed. -Independently analyzing and recommending updates to, and/or streamlining of the grants management process including recommendations to improve the Notice of Funding Opportunity process. -Collaborating with Federal partners in a continuous effort to streamline the grants management process. -Preparing training material for presentations, conferences and information briefing sessions.

Qualifications

Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Minimum Qualification requirements as noted below. Specialized Experience: GS-13: You must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-12 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing (4) of the (5) duties listed below: Interpreting laws and regulations for grant administration and financial policies; Advising on the interpretation of guidelines and proposing new policies and procedures; Reviewing, analyzing a variety of grant issues and recommending solutions; Presenting reports, policies, procedures, and correspondence to agency officials on the upcoming changes; Collaborating with Federal partners in a continuous effort to streamline the grants management process. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to gain employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited. Time-in-Grade Requirement: Under competitive merit promotion procedures, any individual who is currently holding, or who has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet "time-in-grade" requirements (have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade of the grade for which you are applying). You must include an SF-50 (you may need to submit more than one) that supports meeting this requirement with your application package.
