This position is located at Bureau of Engraving and Printing, within the Office of Chief Counsel. As a Government Information Specialist, you will be assist in processing Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act requests. Responsibilities include implementing the FOIA and Privacy disclosure responsibility and the Department of Treasury FOIA regulations.
Duties
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-13. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
As a Government Information Specialist, you will:
-Complete highly complex and sensitive FOIA-related inquiries involving coordination and communication with agency officials, media outlets, reporters, and any other involved parties.
-Actively participate in the planning and administration of the FOIA programs as designated by the Chief Counsel and/or the Deputy Chief Counsel.
-Serve as a subject matter expert on the release of information to the public under the FOIA, fostering a high degree of voluntary compliance with confidentiality.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
-Analyzing, evaluating and reporting on the effectiveness, efficiency and compliance of a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) program; AND
-Independently processing, coordinating and tracking FOIA requests while applying analytical reasoning to determine if exemptions apply; AND
-Providing guidance to program offices on the administration of the FOIA.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
- Independently processing, coordinating, and tracking Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests while applying analytical reasoning to determine if exemptions apply; AND
- Providing guidance to program offices on the administration of the FOIA.
TIME-IN-GRADE: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12level for 52 weeks. For the GS-12, you must have been at the GS-11 level for 52 weeks.
