This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Office of the Secretary and Executive Management, Privacy Office (PRIV).
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a key advisor to the Senior Director, Privacy Oversight in the conduct of Privacy Compliance Reviews and other Oversight functions requiring advanced expertise.
Duties
As a Supervisory Government Information Specialist (FOIA) GS 0306 14, your typical work assignments may include:
Advise the Senior Director, FOIA Operations and Management on FOIA disclosure, processing and other administrative matters and strategies.
Provide authoritative advice on FOIA operational initiatives within DHS. Analyze FOIA laws, regulations, policies, situations, and trends; and participate in the development, coordination, and implementation of FOIA training and outreach that effect DHS or other agencies regarding FOIA practices.
Safeguard operations and management initiatives to ensure appropriate coordination within the FOIA Offices and Components' process.
Supervise a team of FOIA professionals to reduce the agency FOIA backlog for the DHS Privacy Office which receives and processes a voluminous number of FOIA requests and record sets.

Qualifications
Specialized Experience:
To qualify for the GS-14 you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level, OR equivalent public or private sector experience. For this position, specialized experience is defined as: (1) Assuming the responsibility for maintaining and administering an up-to-date FOIA program electronic reading room, web pages of the Privacy Office (FOIA PA); (2) Ensures that documents released via the FOIA/PA are expeditiously uploaded and made available on all available FOIA platforms and/or other locations within the Privacy Office web pages. (3) Communicate effectively orally and in writing with senior management on an array of FOIA privacy matters; and (4) Support and/or represent DHS FOIA training events, conferences, and meetings.

Time-in-grade: Current General Schedule (GS) federal employees, and those that have served in GS positions within the last 52 weeks, must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade, or a combination of the next lower grade level and an equivalent band in the federal service by the closing of this announcement.
