You will serve as an as Information Technology (IT) Specialist at the GG-13/Band 3 level providing specialized and technical IT services for the Hopper N42 Installations Division, Video Telecommunications (VTC) work center, being responsible for analyzing IT requirements and translating to deliverable products. This position is located in Suitland, MD in the HOPPER GLOBAL COMMUNICATIONS CENTER.
Duties
You will design, documentation, development, modification, testing, installation, implementation and support of new or existing VTC capable systems.
You will coordinate and lead various VTC-related taskings, utilizing subject matter expertise to perform the following: installation, operation, troubleshooting, research, engineering/design, integration, testing, maintenance and certifications.
You will develop new methods, approaches and procedures and provide advice and guidance on a wide range of and variety of complex VTC issues.
You will conduct interviews with users and generate requirements for new or modified information technology (IT) systems/services, software and/or hardware.
You will present information technology (IT) initiatives to managers to apprise them of potential impacts or improvements of capabilities.
You will develop solutions which may require backwards compatibility for legacy systems, complex connections in support of multi-domain configurations and/or creativity due to limitations on approved products.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

In addition to your experience demonstrating the four competencies above, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS/GG-12) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing duties such as:
Diagnosing, analyzing and resolving information technology (IT) and Video Telecommunications (VTC) systems, software and/or hardware problems.
Testing and optimizing the functionality of data transfers between systems, point-to-point connections, network and data backbones.
Reviewing information technology (IT) certification and accreditation documentation to ensure that it is compliant with standards, policy, and regulations.
Identifying and defining technical requirements applied to the planning, design, development, testing, implementation, management and support of information technology (IT) systems and networks.
Ensuring the interoperability and integration of VTC networks and services and developing solutions to integration and interoperability issues.
