This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Serve as a Security Specialist in the Crane Army Ammunition Activity Protection Division.
Duties
Serve as a Security Specialist in the Crane Army Ammunition Activity (CAAA) Protection Division supporting program managers.
Maintain and update personnel security files and systems of record.
Initiate request for personnel security investigations; conducts local file checks; process unfavorable actions.
Administer foreign travel briefing activities and position sensitivity determinations.
Review request for interim security clearances.
Assist the security program managers with program reviews, records management, and process execution.
Requirements
- The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This position requires you to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top-Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- A pre-employment and recurring comprehensive background investigation is required.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
Qualifications
This position is under the Acquisition Demonstration Project. The NH-02 broadband incorporates former (GS equivalents) GS-05 step 1 through GS-11 step 10 grade levels and salary levels. Pay increase within the band will be accomplished through the Contribution-based Compensation and Appraisal System (CCAS). In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. General Experience: Three years progressively responsible experience, 1 year of which was equivalent to at least the NH-01 grade level, which includes reviewing requests for personnel security clearances to assure that all required information is provided. Initiates request for personnel security investigations and conduct local file checks. Reviewing reports of personnel investigations to identify the presence or absence of derogatory information. Assist with reviewing the impact of various kinds of derogatory information on the granting, denying, or revoking of security clearances. This definition of general experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (NH-01).

Education: Four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 36. Then divide your total number of completed undergraduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 120. Add the two percentages.
