Duties
You will serve as network engineer managing the NPS's EDU, DREN, DoDnet, INET and wireless networks with responsibility for defining and executing the continuous availability of the organization's secure LAN's.
You will confer with the information Assurance and Cybersecurity teams on a variety of complex and unusual security issues and vulnerabilities.
You will adapt and implement systems diagnostic and maintenance tools to ensure the availability and functionality of systems required to support organizational objectives and evaluate and recommend selection of new system diagnostic tools.
You will serve as senior customer technical analyst with responsibility for resolving the most complex customer problems.
You will review IT programs to assess overall compliance with IT plans and policies and alignment with business requirements.

- This is a Cyberspace Workforce position, work role code (Network Op Spec), proficiency level (Intermediate) the incumbent is required to obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Certification needed: CEH or CFR or Cloud+ or GICSP or SSCP or Security+ or CSEC. Certification must be obtained within six months from start date.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate. This experience must demonstrate each of the four competencies listed below.

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying network design and architecture principles and concepts; network protocols; network operation and maintenance concepts and methods; system configuration management concepts and practices; 2) Applying Cybersecurity principles and methods; and IA security products and services sufficient to evaluate, recommend the acquisition of, implement and disseminate IA security; 3) Applying systems integration methods, performance tuning methods; test and evaluation methods and procedures; and 4) Applying customer support concepts and methods; procedures for troubleshooting and recovering systems and files; installing operating systems, network systems, applications, protocols and equipment.
Experience that demonstrated accomplishment of computer project assignments that required a wide range of knowledge of computer requirements and techniques pertinent to the position to be filled. This knowledge is generally demonstrated by assignments where the applicant analyzed a number of alternative approaches in the process of advising management concerning major aspects of ADP system design, such as what system interrelationships must be considered, or what operating mode, system software, and/or equipment configuration is most appropriate for a given project.
