About the Position: The incumbent serves as a Mortuary Affairs Coordinator carrying out all phases of mortuary services and assistance for the Casualty Assistance Center (CAC).
Duties
Responsible for processing current deaths of service members and their dependents, Department of the Army Civilians (DACs), active duty National Guard and Army Reservists.
Serves as the contracting officer representative (COR) for the Army requirements contract for mortuary services in the Area of Responsibility (AOR)
Provides expertise in the analysis, testing, and evaluation of the emergency and evacuation planning, operations, and response of the Casualty Assistance Center in the event of multiple military Casualties.
Knowledge of contracting and inter-service support agreements to administer local and one time mortuary service contract.
Serves as a member of a disaster response team in the search, recovery, evacuation, and identification of remains at an accident site.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Performs 24-hour casualty assistance duties and must be immediately available to respond.
- Employee will be required to work irregular tours of duty to include nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Employee must maintain training in applicable policies, techniques, tactics, and procedures.
- A one-year probationary period is required if not already served.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Assisting with the administration of a mortuary affairs program to meet policy and regulation, and 2) Working with billing and reconciliation procedures, procurement ethics and standards of conduct, credit card holder. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
