You will serve as a Postal Operations Specialist (Official Mail Manager) within NAVSUP FLEET LOGISTICS CENTER JACKSONVILLE. 1 vacancy in Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida. 1 vacancy in Millington, Tennessee.

Duties

You will be responsible for issuing and enforcing mail policies to commands, working with commands to analyze and determine requirements, and establishing a mail management program. You will perform a variety of postal duties including acceptance, screening, sorting, and distributing incoming mail. You will monitor customer compliance with applicable mailing requirements and policies, identify deficiencies, and work with customers to correct problems. You will operate computers, automated mailing systems, and sorting equipment to perform postal duties. You will provide technical and administrative support and guidance in resolving mail management issues.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license and/or a government vehicle operator's permit.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • This position may be coded as “key” and as such may be required be removed from their military recall status if applicable. A signed statement of understanding is required.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Utilizing working knowledge of the United States Postal Service (USPS), Department of Defense (DoD), and Department of the Navy (DON) directives, regulations, laws, and practices. Examples of specialized experience include: 1) Receiving, sorting, collecting, metering, processing, delivering, and directing the distribution of incoming and outgoing mail; 2) Operating electronic/automated mail processing equipment, mailing systems, and other mail center equipment; 3) Assisting customers with routine requests and resolving problems; and 4) Ensuring that operations comply with mail (i.e. USPS, FEDEX, UPS, etc) procedures and inter-office correspondence. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree.
OR
Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree.
OR

A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
