This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, Deputy Commandant for Mission Support (DCMS), Operational Logistics Command (LOGCOM), Office of Personnel and Reserve Force Readiness (LOG-1) in Norfolk, VA.
Duties
This position is located in the US Coast Guard, Deputy Commandant Mission Support (DCMS) organization, Operational Logistics Command (LOGCOM), Norfolk, VA in the Office of Personnel and Reserve Force Readiness (LOG-1). Provides direct administrative support to the LOGCOM, LC-cos, LOG CMC, LOG Division Chiefs and 800+ reservists.
Requirements

- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- This position requires a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
- This position may require a one year probationary period.
- Open to US Coast competitive service employees in the local commuting area
Qualifications
GS- 7 For the GS-07 level: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level in the federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Specialized experience includes performing general office work and serving as an office clerical or administrative support person; administering the daily clerical duties, priorities, and commitments of an office; maintaining a filing system; using word processing and other software packages to produce letters and prepare reports.
OR
1 full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement
GS-8: To qualify at the GS-8 level, applicants must have a minimum of 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-7 level in the federal sector. Examples of specialized experience include using effective interpersonal skills in working with others; providing direct administrative support to multiple department chiefs; utilizing office automation software; maintaining department tracking system; processing awards; Develop and implement tracking programs and maintains the command tickler files for command administrative staff chief.
NO EDUCATION EQUIVALENT FOR THE GS-08
GS-9: To qualify at the GS-9 level, applicants must have a minimum of 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-8 level in the federal sector. Specialized experience includes performing general office work auxiliary to the work of the organization and serving as principal office clerical or administrative support person; providing and managing the daily clerical duties, priorities, and commitments of an office with minimal direction; establishing and maintaining a filing system for office records and documents, answering telephone inquiries, preparing reports, correspondence and other related documents; using word processing and other software packages to types memos and letters and prepare reports; administer a variety of other secretarial and administrative functions in accordance with correspondence rules.

master's or equivalent graduate degree

2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.B. or J.D., if related
