About the Position: This position is with the Defense Health Agency. It is located within the Clinical Support Nutrition Care Food Production and Services at the Martin Army Community Hospital at Fort Moore in Columbus, Georgia. The primary purpose is to perform tasks associated with preparation of a variety of food service work: serving prepared food and beverages, cleaning food service trays, pans, dishes and work areas. Also, counts money to verify proper change fund.

Duties

Operate, break down and clean all electrical equipment for food preparation. Perform common food service and preparation activities. Perform heavy duty cleaning tasks throughout food service and related areas. Operate cash register which records headcount figures, prices for each menu item sold, and cash collected.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• A pre-placement medical examination is required.
• This position requires rotating shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
• Moderate to heavy lifting up to 40 pounds is required.
• This position requires the wear of personal protective equipment.

Your resume must show demonstrated experience performing common tasks of a Food Service Worker that includes: To prepare cold items such as sandwiches, salads, and fruit; stock utensils, cups, and condiments for customers; clean food preparation areas and kitchen equipment. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.-- Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works in kitchen environment with constant exposure to steam and heat from cooking and the dishwasher. Environment often uncomfortably hot, noisy and humid. Danger of slipping on freshly mopped floors or on floors where food has been spilled. Danger of cuts or serious burns due to exposure to hot liquids, sharp blades, and hot surfaces. Exposed to constant temperature changes when going from kitchen to refrigerators and freezers, Work area has adequate lighting.
