You will serve as a QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST (SHIPBUILDING) in the Engineering Department (N7) of MILITARY SEALIFT COMMAND.
Duties
You will plan and execute policy procedures for designing, building, maintaining, repairing, and overhauling Military Sealift Commands worldwide fleet of ships and provide the technical interface on ships design and engineering operations.
You will provide technical support regarding the development, implementation, and ongoing management of Safety Management Systems and Maintenance and Repair Management Systems for Military Sealift Command
You will coordinate internal and external audits of the processes and procedures of the Safety Management Systems.
You will define problems, analyze alternatives, and recommend solutions and serve on interagency committees or task groups.
Requirements

- This position requires occasional weekend/holiday/overtime and rotating shift work.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
Qualifications
GS-13:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience developing and coordinating Safety Management System policies and procedures on technical ship maintenance and repair policies; and developing administrative procedures regarding ship alteration and ship dry-docking requirements.
Experience responding to inquiries, providing professional consultations on difficult technical and engineering problems and issues
Experience identifying deficiencies in Command policy and processes relating to International Safety Management Code requirements
Experience overseeing internal and external audit scheduling and execution, and reviewing internal audit reports for accuracy
Experience managing Safety Management System database to ensure data is accurately entered and available; and to conduct data analysis regarding trends in non-conformities and potential issues.
GS-12:
