You will serve as a OFFICE AUTOMATION TECHNICIAN within NAVSAFENVTRNGCTR. The Hampton Roads commuting area is defined as following: Chesapeake, Norfolk, Hampton, Newport News, Virginia Beach, Portsmouth, Suffolk cities in Virginia; York, Isle of Wight and Northampton counties in Virginia; and Gates, Chowan, Perquimans, Pasquotank, Camden and Currituck Counties in North Carolina.

Duties

You will manage departmental records, maintain files and correspondence. You will use Microsoft Excel to organize, manage, and maintain databases and spreadsheets for the department and create forms, tables, and graphs. You will prepare and track documentation to order supplies. You will receive and answer routine telephone inquiries and refer to appropriate staff.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-04) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate performing duties such as the following; Demonstrating skill in using job-relevant information systems and/or software applications, such as MS Office Suite. Identifying a need for and knows where to gather basic administrative requirements; organizes and maintains administrative files. Performing work such as preparing, receiving, reviewing, and verifying documents; maintaining office records; locating and compiling data or information from files; compiling information for reports; and informing others of deadlines and other important dates; and similar clerical support work within an organization. Conveying written information in a clear, concise, organized, and convincing manner for the intended audience, using correct English grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Demonstrating ability to clearly and effectively articulate, present, and promote varied ideas and issues before internal staff and external staff and/or students. Listens effectively; clarifies information as needed.
