You will serve as a MOC CURRENT OPERATIONS SPECIALIST in the JOINT/FLEET OPERATIONS/MOC DIV of COMMANDER US FLEET FORCES COMMAND.

Duties

You will be responsible for developing COPS plans and orders directing subordinate forces in support of Commander USFFC Force Generation. You will be responsible for coordination with multiple higher headquarters for the employment of forces in support of Homeland Defense and Homeland Security. You will develop, maintain and prepare to present a daily, flag level Operations Brief. You will perform MOC special projects as directed by the USFF N3, N3B, and N3 Current Operations Officer.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: *Experience conducting planning and execution in accordance with Service and Joint doctrine and Current Operations (COPS) guidance and to provide technical, operational, management and administrative support of the COPS Center within the Maritime Operations Center (MOC). *Experience working with and knowledge of Fleet Operations, maritime environment, issues and policy within the maritime area of operations and organization of the Joint Force. *Experience in Maritime Homeland Defense (MHD) and NORTHCOM, STRATCOM, and OPNAV directed missions, operational plans, and Concepts of Operations (CONOPs). *Experience applying leadership, organizational, and communication skills commensurate with leading a branch of 10 government, civilian and contractors or ad-hoc cross-functional teams to plan, execute or respond to crisis action events is critical for all job candidates.
