This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard, Assistant Commandant for Commandant for Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Information Technology (CG-6), Office of Privacy Management (CG-6P), Washington, DC.
Duties
As a Government Information Specialist (FOIA/CYBER), this position is serves as a FOIA Compliance Manager, and is responsible for developing and maintaining cybersecurity plans, strategy, and policy to support and align with organizational cybersecurity initiatives and regulatory compliance.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- This position requires a Top Secret clearance.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- Time-in grade requirement must be met by closing date.
Qualifications
To qualify for the GS-14 level, applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least a GS-13 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
Specialized experience includes the following:
Reviewing and analyzing appeals from denials of access to records requested under FOIA;
Providing guidance and advice on Federal FOIA policy and processes;
Researching, analyzing, and evaluating data for response to information requests;
Assembling and reviewing proposed FOIA release packages.
To qualify for the GS-13 level, applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
Specialized experience includes the following:
Providing information-related assistance and services to the general public;
Analyzing and evaluating data for response to information requests;
Processing FOIA and Privacy Act data requests;
Assembling and reviewing proposed FOIA release packages.
National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
