This position is located at Departmental Offices, Terrorism and Financial Intelligence - Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). As a Supervisory Government Information Specialist, you will serve as a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Deputy Assistant Director responsible for the coordination, review, and processing of all of OFAC's initial FOIA requests, litigation and appeal matters, and issues and cases pursuant to the FOIA, applicable laws, and regulations.
Duties
As a Supervisory Government Information Specialist, you will:
Serve as a Deputy Assistant Director for the Information Disclosure and Records Management Division (IDRMD) and supervise the day-to-day operational activities of the FOIA analysts assigned to your section.
Ensure that all cases are processed in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, guidance and policy.
Ensure that all analysts properly redact and annotate all documents and process all cases from inception through to completion with virtually no errors in a timely manner.
Provide top level leadership for the development of policy and oversight for compliance with the FOIA and other applicable laws and regulations.
Keep abreast of all FOIA legal matters such as changes in the law and make recommendations to the Assistant Director, IDRMD of what changes to processes and policies need to be made in keeping with the current state of the FOIA law.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-15, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-15 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
Providing technical and administrative advice regarding a Federal, state, or local Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) program or private sector information disclosure program; AND
Providing advice in the development and oversight of policies, practices and procedures relating to the FOIA or information disclosure program; AND
Interacting and communicating with federal or large private sector agencies, AUSAs, agency Counsel, FOIA attorneys, and/or plaintiffs on matters relating to FOIA or information disclosure litigation processing; AND
Independently processing FOIA or information disclosure requests; AND
Experience processing FOIA or information disclosure litigation cases; AND
Leading or supervising a FOIA or information disclosure team.
The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
