You will serve as a Supervisory Engineering Technician in the Carrier Project Engineering and Planning Division of PSNS and IMF.

Duties

You will plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work. You will work with assigned project management personnel to develop Plan of Action and Milestones (POAM) to guide Engineering and Planning Department efforts for successful project completion. You will facilitate the acquisition of funding and technical guidance information necessary for the Engineering and Planning Divisions to accomplish assigned tasks. You will represent the Carrier Project Engineering and Planning Division Manager as necessary at all project-oriented meetings involving status, performance, or progress. You will resolve major operations and resource department problems with Engineering and Planning Department documentation by taking direct action or assuring appropriate action is assigned. You will actively support and promote all aspects of the Equal Employment Opportunity Program and Affirmative Action Plans as directed by applicable laws, regulations and policies.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing technical engineering advisory services to evaluate problems and recommend solutions pertaining to surface ship or submarine system overhaul repair or maintenance projects for supporting effective modernization of naval vessels.
