About the Position. The incumbent carries out teaching and instruction activities in accordance with established objectives, policies and accepted teaching practices.

Duties

Provides multiple methods of instructions, evaluation, and counseling to students. Develops and prepares lesson plans, instructional materials, and program evaluations. Administers and evaluate oral, written, and hands-on exams. Oversees the serviceability and maintenance of classrooms and training resources. Serves as the field training primary instructor responsible for the integration and synchronization of multiple training events.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• The position requires a pre-appointment physical.
• This position is subject to random urinalysis per OPM regulations and AR 600-85 due to handling of weapons, ammunition, conducting marksmanship training, and transporting students in tactical vehicles.
• Must possess or obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license, and any installation, DOD and/or Federal license or certification required for vehicle operated.
• This position is subject to the Lautenberg Amendment.
• Newly hired instructors (not Level 1 combative certified) must be willing and able to obtain Level 1 certification within six months.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled, such as, Teaching, Education Studies, and Instructional Design. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
