About the Position: This position is located at Fort Riley, Kansas.
Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.
Non-Federal work experience may be creditable for leave purposes.
Duties
Perform and participate in the day-to-day office support duties as the principal administrative and clerical employee for the Behavioral Health Services (BHS) office.
Prepare numerous administrative reports for the Health Systems Specialist on a recurring basis.
Develop and implement procedures pertaining to files and other clerical and administrative activities.
Establish and maintain the office files in accordance with the Modern Army Keeping System (MARKS).
Serve as an immediate source of information on personnel processing and administration for the BHS's office.
Prepare and distribute various reports to include, but not limited to, accidents, copy machine usage, gasoline/fuel consumption, safety meetings, training, vehicles, long distance telephone calls, postage, etc.
Compose letters, memoranda, and responses to inquiries not of a technical nature.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience and/or education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience utilizing office automation in order to accomplish inputting and retrieving data, generating reports, creating correspondence and performing office duties such as maintaining a calendar, file maintenance and setting appointments. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
OR
Education: Successfully completed a half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field of the position such as Human Resources, Healthcare Administration or a related field. (Note: you must attach a copy of your transcripts)
OR
Combination of Experience and Education: Possess the specialized experience as described above, but less than one year and you possess some graduate level education but less than a half year. The computed percentage of the requirements met must total at least 100%. To compute the percentage divide your semester hours of graduate education by 9. Add the two percentages and the total percentage must equal at least 100%. (Note: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.)
Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
