About the Position: Serves as an Army Emergency Relief Technician, Army Community Service (ACS), under the general supervision of the Financial Readiness Program Manager or Primary Army Emergency Relief Officer (AERO) within the Directorate of Morale, Welfare & Recreation, Army Community Services Division on Fort Riley, KS.

Duties

Through a multitude of service delivery models to include in-person, virtual, or hybrid, provides technical support for the administration of Army Emergency Relief (AER) program. Serves as a source of information, making referrals, providing information, and assistance to persons with financial problems beyond the scope of their own resources. Assists soldiers in clearing AER prior to changing duty stations or transitioning from Active Duty, initiates repayment schedules and promissory notes for clients clearing with outstanding balances. Assists with the coordination of the annual AER campaign, preparation for the annual audit, and similar AER administrative functions. Provide basic AER program overviews and training when required.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station.
  • May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours.
  • May be required to lift and/or carry up to 25lbs.
  • Incumbent is required to submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, upon entering the position and annually IAW with DoD Directive 5500-7-R, Joint Ethics Regulation, dated 17-Nov-2011.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Social Work or Finance. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementClient OrientationCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical)Oral Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
