About the Position: Serves as Army Community Service (ACS) Multi-Functional Specialist at the installation level with professional and technical responsibility for assisting Commanders with assessing, tailoring and prioritizing ACS service delivery in support of local military and Family needs.
Duties
Serve as Army Community Service (ACS) Multi-Functional Specialist at the installation level.
Assist Commanders with assessing, tailoring and prioritizing ACS service delivery in support of local military and family needs.
Develop and manage a variety of educational forums and briefings to assist serviced populations with increasing their knowledge of available resources.
Identify, advise and consult with leaders on positive sustainable efforts that foster an environment of trust and responsiveness to various organizational quality of life issues.
Design and establish marketing and public relations strategies to ensure target populations
are informed of available services and activities.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position is Mission Essential, in the event of severe weather conditions or other emergency situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.

Basic Requirement for Army Community Service Specialist:
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, such as psychology, counseling, or sociology.
OR
B. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
OR
C. Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Assisting in and/or communicating appropriate information and referral services to community resources for customers; 2) Presenting, in part or in whole, briefings and/or training to customers; AND 3) Compiling and/or analyzing data to maintain statistics to complete various reports such as community needs assessment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GS-07).
OR
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as psychology, counseling, or sociology. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements and minimum qualification requirements prescribed by OPM within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
